About Patton Wilson

Patton Wilson is a self-taught painter who early in his career focused on archaic mediums, egg tempera and casein, and the manufacture of materials used in those mediums.

He has been influenced by the Flemish, Dutch and Spanish still life painters and the American acquisition of this style. Wilson currently works almost exclusively from life, under natural light and paints in egg tempera, oil, casein and watercolor.  In his still life painting, he is fascinated by the relationship that develops when disparate objects are placed in close proximity.
